Now my memories of that game have been tainted from how good the N64 game was with its simple and fluid controls and it's really dissapointing, I didn't think the movement on the DS version was gonna be that bad with the 180° turning that can mess you up so badly or how they padded everything out with dividing the switch caps to the other characters, making you change from them either with their respective hats or the Peach room. I picked Mario 64 DS after so many years and after playing through the original Mario 64 and to be honest the DS version aged really, really poorly, even worse than the original. Maybe someday I'll play it on emulator, since then at least I can use hacks to make the N64 analog work correctly on the 3DS emulator. I'm now demoralized to the point that I don't even want to think about the game. but nope.įor the first time since owning the 3DS, this game had me thinking repeatedly "I'm not having fun." It would be nicer if the 3DS analog stick would include the tip-towing and running. The 3DS analog stick is slightly better than the D-PAD, but it's not real analog and it's still painfully obvious. Mario 64 was a game that defined analog controls - what was Nintendo thinking? I tried the touch controls, and they have no tactile feedback - same problem with iPhone / iPad games. I recently played thru Super Mario 64 (original) on emulator (with real N64) controller. I never got a DS, but I was kind of jealous when they got Super Mario 64 DS - with the 30 extra stars, upgraded textures, and of course, more Characters. I recently got a 3DS and I'm loving it so much! Shaped like a shark fin, it has three curved plastic panels in the side that light up when the unit is plugged in. It is a very cool-looking device, to boot. Along with the radioSHARK receiver came an installation CD and a *gasp* printed manual. There is a single, 4ft-long white USB cable emanating from the rear of the unit. It is a semi-glossy white plastic with a metal base. The unit itself measures about 7-1/2in x 4in x 2in. The radioSHARK was smaller than I had imagined. Finally, it appeared on the market in late 2004, and Griffin was kind enough to send us a review unit. However, like so many new products, release dates kept slipping and slipping. I could also listen to the radio play-by-play of the Chicago Bears on my Mac (instead of putting up with the insipid TV commentary so prevalent these days) while watching the broadcast in another window. I was thinking the radioSHARK would be the perfect product for me to record shows that I so often miss: This American Life, The World, and Prairie Home Companion on NPR, and Mac, Jurko, and Harry on the sports-talker. When working in my office at home, I often have NPR or the local sports-talk station (WMVP ESPN Radio1000) tuned on my cheap, ten-dollar radio. It supports any PC or Mac with a free USB port on Windows XP or Mac OS X 10.2.8 or 10.3.įrom the time I first heard about it, I wanted one. It cannot be used to listen to satellite radio or broadcasts streamed over the Internet. It can timeshift live recordings, be set to regularly record a program, or simply used to listen to live radio on either the AM and FM band. The basic premise of the radioSHARK is this: TiVo for radio. Griffin also makes a whole host of accessories for the iPod as well as the iCurve laptop stand. I never got much use out of it, but I thought it was one of the coolest-looking products with its brushed-metal surface and pulsing purple light. I owned one of their PowerMates for quite some time. Griffin Technology has been known for coming out with cool accessories. The radioSHARK from Griffin Technology falls into that category for the second reason. Sometimes it?s because of the styling, other times because of the functionality it promises. System requirements: USB 1.1 port, Windows XP, Mac OS X 10.2.8 or higherĮvery so often a product comes out that catches the eye. Buyer beware.NEVER CALL AHEAD, if you frequent this place.Manufacturer: Griffin Technology ( product page) So.what do they do to their long-term loyal customers? They gouge them with at least an additional $25.00 per phone order just because the person ordered by phone! You could go buy roughly 4-5 lbs of chicken with that at the grocery store. They know Marin has few options.their food is generally good and quick.and they have relatively next to no competition in the general area. And there was no apology or understanding whatsoever towards a long-term loyal customer. Being charged $25.00 premium because you pre-ordered by phone and they don't weigh the food as if they would if you were at the case when ordering makes no sense at all, and total gouging if you ask me. We went around and around and got nowhere. That's the cost of at least another entree! Insanity. They will charge you a minimum of at least $25.00 MORE for the luxury. So.fellow take-out orderers who care about their hard-earned money.never ever order ahead of time by phone unless you want to pay through the NOSE. She then got Norman, the manager who explained that for all phone orders they charge the flat menu cost because they DON'T weigh it. When I called to inquire about why the $25.00 premium cost, I spoke first with Mackenzie who kept telling me they charge by weight. The only difference was that I had ordered by PHONE as opposed to being there in person at the case. The food was nothing more / nothing less than prior orders. I looked at the size of the food cartons, and the contents. It was $25.00 more than the gajillions of prior visits to the takeout window. When I got home, I inspected the receipt. I arrived, signed the receipt and went home. Last night (2/27/19) I pre-ordered as it was pouring down rain and I was on the highway, and I knew that Harmony would have a long line. Most of the time, I have arrived and wait in line at the. Though I have eaten in the restaurant on occasion (friendly service though slow sometimes), I generally grab takeout. I have been coming to Harmony for years and years as a Marin resident.
eml file on the system, so can be a huge file). In order to provide greater flexibility (and to avoid the problem where corruption of a single. Windows Live Mail moved away from the older Microsoft mail programs, such as Outlook Express, which stored all e-mails comprising a folder (such as the Inbox) in a single. Discussions on the forums have provided no clear solutions to these issues. Another development that caused complaints is the Live Mail Sent folder erroneously containing the name of the Sender rather than the Recipient in the To column, while omitting the sender's account name in the Account column (as the fault only affects that folder, a workaround is to move sent items into a new folder, named - for example - "Sent 2019"). One problem is that deleted emails keep returning day after day. Since around 2013, serious problems with Windows Live Mail 2012 (but not with Windows Live Mail 2011) have been reported on various blog sites (including Microsoft forums). Windows Live Mail is designed to run on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, but is also compatible with Windows 8 and Windows 10, even though Microsoft bundles a new email client, named Windows Mail, with the latter. It is the successor to Windows Mail in Windows Vista, which was the successor to Outlook Express in Windows XP and Windows 98. However, barring some minor scaling issues in terms of difficulty and itemisation, the game isn’t critically flawed to the point of unplayable. The real issue at hand is that The Baconing doesn’t put across anything that is awe-inspiringly new. Ultimately, The Baconing was just plain boring. With all that I’ve written thus far, you must think that The Baconing comes as quite a unenjoyable game. Only time (travel) will tell what is to become of our brave, determined, though rather daft, hero, Deathspank. Having played through the entire series as well, I felt that when compared to the franchise’s first two games, The Baconing does come up short and uncomfortably rushes you down a mind-numbingly linear path that turns Deathspank’s epic journey into a rather simplistic point-to-point quest marathon that leads up to a boss encounter and doesn’t quite live up to the amount of effort put into reaching it in the first place. I’d reckon even that in those areas, the game might even be considered somewhat weaker than what we’ve seen out of the series thus far. Besides the fact that it mechanically functions the same as its forerunners, The Baconing’s quest content, itemisation and enemy encounters too haven’t seen any major revolution and as a whole, suffer from what is by now very typical presentation. In terms of gameplay, The Baconing does little to innovate or excite. The only real difference lies in its plot, which I have to say, isn’t as interesting and doesn’t quite motivate you as the first two games did. From any perspective, really, The Baconing looks, feels, works and plays just as its predecessors did. While the third instalment may possess all the franchise’s hallmarks of success, it doesn’t bring anything new to the table. They were entertaining, easy to understand, challenging to master, hilariously funny and pushed the boundaries of what might be deemed as content that is “appropriate”. By the third game, however, Deathspank’s level of appeal starts to plateau. The first and second games were brilliant by my standards. Deathspank even sweeps players off their feet with situations and dialogues that are so illogically out of this world that players will often find themselves questioning the sanity of the game’s writers. It isn’t afraid to offend, break the fourth wall or bury you in an avalanche of memes and Easter eggs. Sadly, the latest instalment to the franchise does little to remedy that situation.Īs a whole, what makes Deathspank so special as a series is in its purple clad boldness and the originality with which it portrays content. Those with no preconceived notions about the series would do well to try out the demo and extrapolate that same experience to several more hours. And so it was that after two games worth of monster slaying, orphan saving, thong wearing and being an all-round hero to the downtrodden, The Baconing greets us with an on-top-of-the-world Deathspank who’s gotten rather bored. Those who relished the first two games will likely find the same enjoyment in The Baconing, but those who grew bored of DeathSpank last year won’t find anything different enough in this entry to justify it. It’s the same DeathSpank gameplay with the same DeathSpank flavor in some new DeathSpank environments. So, to bring it all back to where we began, you probably already know if you want The Baconing. The sense of humor adds a nice touch to a typically stonefaced genre, but it won’t be the element that compels players to play through the game. However, since most of the gameplay involves either average combat or walking between quests, the big determining factor for a potential buyer is how much he enjoys smacking things with sticks and then picking up dropped items. For the now-standard $15 price, the game offers around eight to ten hours of gameplay. The second player now has four different characters to choose from, but it is still the same unrewarding tagalong experience that was present since the original DeathSpank.įor those who need to consider the cost-to-time ratio, The Baconing fares pretty well. Cooperative play is still a bit disappointing, with no online play, and more egregiously, no transfer of stats, items, or experience to a friend’s game.
